About the Okanagan

The Okanagan Valley

Sedona Developer, Todd Gillard

The Okanagan Valley is a year round recreation paradise. In winter, choose from five world-class ski resorts. Downhill, cross country and snowboarding are all within an hour of your new home. In summer, water sports rule the day. Explore a hundred kilometres of blue waters, ancient clay cliffs, fine sand beaches. Sail, windsurf, kayak, waterski – whatever your pleasure – you have two lakes to play in. You’re just five minutes from boat launches and popular picnic sites. Or spend a lazy day floating down the river channel. Prefer the links? The valley is lined with thirty golf courses to challenge you in all four seasons. Next door to Sedona Heights lies Giant's Head Mountain, a sprawling park land, where avid mountain bikers and hikers roam. For the hardcore athletes, Penticton is home to the Ironman in August, an event that is enthusiastically supported by the community.

Food and wine lovers will be in gourmet heaven too. There are farmers' markets and local producers throughout the valley, seasonal festivals and delightful cafés. The restaurants are plentiful and ethnically diverse, many feature local food on their menus. Some of the finest venues are located right on vineyards. The Okanagan Valley boasts over eighty vineyards, many with award winning vintages and eclectic tasting rooms.
